When an opportunity like this comes up you have to take it. We recently had the chance to host the band El Diablitos at the Chris King factory for a Chris King Buzz Session. El Diablitos are fronted by San Francisco’s native son Tony Guerrero who absolutely shreds on guitar with a reverb-bathed Link Wray sound that has been cooked in the Latin infused cultural melting pot of “The Bay”. Tony is now a Portland transplant and when he is not cutting heads with his Les Paul he is out on his Santa Cruz Bronson shredding our local trails.
While El Diablitos reverberated through the halls of the Chris King factory, our staff and some special guests enjoyed a selection of beer from Portland’s Basecamp Brewing Co.. We danced, we laughed, and we stood in the bright warming sunshine that poured through the factory windows. While Tony blasted out lick after lick his brother, skateboard legend, Tommy Guerrero, stepped into play back-up guitar. As the afternoon wore on Tommy switched to bass and the Guererro brothers continued to entertain the crowds with an extended jam session.
In all they played for just under three and a half hours to a rousing applause from all in attendance. We highly recommend that you check out El Diablitos, head over to their Reverb Nation page for more examples of their music.
Chris King Buzz Sessions are a way for us to invite the musicians that we love into the Chris King factory to perform for our staff and close friends. While we cannot invite everyone to the live show we do want to share the experience with everyone. Stay tuned here for more Buzz Sessions.
