Chris King Precision Components was founded in 1976 to make high quality precision performance bicycle components. To aid in the creation and evolution of our products a covert development branch was established, one that until now has been hidden in the shadows and shrouded in mystery. This secret branch is devoted to working with our sponsored athletes, riders who perform at the highest level, riders who can push their equipment well beyond that of a normal rider. We call this development branch BUZZWORKSand it is responsible for the one-off products that address the specific needs of our athletes; test and prototype components that may never make it to production but help create valuable information that informs the development of future product offerings.
For the 2014 season we worked with the Santa Cruz Syndicate to develop a special OffSet headset for their race bikes. You see, the gentlemen on the Syndicate are very very tall. So tall in fact that an extra large V-10 frame is even too short. Buzzworks created our OffSet headset to give Minnaar, Peat, and Bryceland an extra 8mm of cockpit room to help them handle the high speeds found in modern downhill racing. Combined with our patented GripLock retention system we are confident that the Syndicate boys will soon be steering their way to the top steps of the World Cup podium. The World Cup season kicks off this weekend in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and we hope you will join us in cheering on the team as they fly down the dusty African mountainside.
Vital MTB has some great images of the headset mounted on the Greg’s bike. Click here for a closer look.
