The design brief for the ARD44 was simple, a wheelset designed for serious cyclists who want all-out speed on flats, climbs and through corners, an aerodynamic wheel that shines across a wide range of terrain, from smooth pavement to rough gravel roads.
The ARD44’s FusionFiber® rim produces a stable, responsive and nimble ride while reducing bodily fatigue and strain on the rider. Fusion Fiber® produces superior damping attributes because it isn’t bonded with epoxy resin. Instead, it uses nylon, which gives it optimal strength, even at higher compliance levels, so the wheels hold traction better, and ride smoother than any other carbon road wheel you’ve ridden before.
Unlike traditional carbon fiber, FusionFiber® is recyclable. It can be chipped, heated and reused to make other products. It also requires much less time and energy to form into complex shapes, like bicycle wheel rims, and the process generates much less waste. All good things.
Road riders used to think that 19-21mm wide tires inflated to incredibly high pressure produced the fastest ride. Mistaking the harsh ride that setup produced for speed, when in reality it caused a loss of speed, through lost traction and body fatigue. These ARD44 wheels represent everything we’ve come to understand about what makes riders faster.
The ARD44 Wheelset is aerodynamically tailored for 28mm-30mm tires, and its 25mm internal width and 30.5mm external width accommodate a broad range of tire sizes generally up to 50mm. The hookless, tubeless rim design simplifies installation and maintenance while optimizing the interface between the tire and rim bed.
