The AeroSet™ 3 debuted in late 2022 at the Chris King Open House bike show, the first headset we made for internal cable routing systems. It features external cups that press into a 44mm upper and lower headtube. Reminiscent of our classic NoThreadSet™ headset cups—though larger—it works with the ENVE In-Route or FSA ACR systems.
In April 2024, we launched the AeroSet™ 1 and AeroSet™ 2 headsets, expanding our AeroSet™ lineup to include internal cable routing headsets for drop-in style bikes. The AeroSet™ 1 and AeroSet™ 2 utilize 52mm drop-in style upper and lower bearings and share the same bearing cap as the AeroSet™ 3, though they come with a different insert. These headsets were specifically designed for bikes such as the Argonaut, ENVE MOG, select Time models, and other custom frame builds, offering a sleek aesthetic transition between the fork, headtube, and stem.
What sets any of our AeroSet™ headsets apart from others on the market are our patented GripLock™ system and in-house manufactured bearings. These innovations provide unrivaled durability and security, especially important in systems with internal routing. A bearing failure in such systems can cost hundreds of dollars in labor alone to fix, making reliability a key factor.
So, what’s the difference between the AeroSet™ 1 and AeroSet™ 2?
It’s quite simple; the only difference lies in the lower bearing:
- The AeroSet™ 1 uses a 45-degree lower bearing and baseplate.
- The AeroSet™ 2 uses a 36-degree lower bearing and baseplate.
These options work with specific bikes that have integrated fork crown races. For example, Argonaut bikes with a 36-degree fork crown race use the AeroSet™ 2, while the Time ADHX, with a 45-degree crown race, pairs with the AeroSet™ 1.
The best part is: if your bike doesn’t have an integrated fork crown race, both the AeroSet 1 and 2 will work! You can simply purchase whichever one is in stock in your favorite color.
