ISO Single Speed
Perhaps the best description of single speed mountain biking is this “Always the wrong gear.” While singlespeeding is a challenge, there is no question in its rise to popularity in recent times. Maybe you don’t always want a couple dozen gears and gobs of travel out on your favorite rides. And maybe sometimes the challenge is the best part of the ride. But no matter the motivation to take on the test of that single wrong gear, you can always have the right hub.
The Chris King ISO Single Speed Disc Rear Hub is purpose built for singlespeed riding. Wide-spaced, equal size aluminum hubshell flanges set the base for a low-dish wheel; the less the dish, the stronger the wheel. Building strength upon strength, our renowned sealed bearings turn around a one-piece 19.5 mm dropout-to-dropout axle while our patented RingDrive™ engagement provides near instantaneous power transfer.
We designed a custom singlespeed specific driveshell that allows for the wide spaced flanges of the hubshell. This aluminum driveshell allows you to use our lightweight spacer and lockring system to dial in your chainline with our FunBolts keeping it all in place.
FunBolts are our hollow stainless steel fixing bolts with an aluminum cap sleeve. At 42 grams per pair they ably define our concept of responsibly light.
User serviceability is a hallmark of all Chris King hubs. With the ISO Single Speed Disc all you need is a 2.5mm hex-head wrench to adjust the bearing preload or to remove the axle clamp and service the bearings. As with every hub we manufacture, this hub is backed by a 5-year warranty.
Pair with our ISO Disc Front Hub for a complete hubset.
Ceramic Bearings - Made in-house
We make our own ceramic bearings and we build them to the same exacting standards as our classic, time-tested stainless steel ball model. Pairing the corrosion resistance of ceramic balls with our proven sealing system allows for greater flexibility with greasing options. We build our ceramic bearing ISO hubs with a very small amount of silicone-based lube for a system with very low drag. Take advantage of our user-serviceable bearings and run minimal lubrication for the ultimate in race-day performance.
Stainless Steel Bearings - Made in-house
The ISO hubsets also have the option of stainless steel sealed bearings. As with every King bearing, these bearings are made in-house in Portland, Oregon and individually hand-checked for precision and smoothness.
To get you rolling, our ISO Single Speed Disc Rear Hub comes standard with two spacers, cog lockring, and an 18t King stainless steel singlespeed cog.
