The 'scuff washer' is intended to go between the bearing cap and stem or stem spacers to help offset the effects of unfaced stems. It will help reduce the adjustment problems and creaking commonly caused by unfaced stems.
Chris King Titanium
We produce titanium headsets in limited production runs, at most, twice a year. They are available in 1" and 1-1/8" NoThreadSet and 1" GripNut models. While they aren't as light as our aluminum headsets they are slightly stronger. And more expensive. It's the gift for the bike that has everything.
Each of the three models feature a unique "King Ti" laser mark on the upper cups only. Lower cups are unmarked. Each model includes a titanium baseplate. Titanium NoThreadSet models include a titanium stemcap, stainless steel bolt, and our custom steel star nut.

Special Note
An important installation step with any Chris King headset is the proper reaming and facing of your frame. This is especially critical if your new King Ti headset will be installed in a titanium frame. The potential for noise from the contact of similar materials is increased by non-parallel and non-concentric surfaces. Please be certain to also use a high-quality anti-seize paste when pressing titanium headset cups into any frame material.
